Leander Paes sailed into pre-quarter finals and Mahesh Bhupathi entered the second round of the men’s doubles but Sania Mirza crashed out of the women’s doubles in the French Open, here on Friday.
While Paes and Lukas Dlouhy staged a comeback to beat James Cerretani and Sergiy Stakhovsky 4-6, 6-3, 6-2, Bhupathi and Mark Knowles recorded a comfortable 6-3, 6-2 victory over Josselin Ouanna and Jo-Wilfried Tsonga.
The 14th-seeded Sania and Taipei’s Chia-Jung Chuang were knocked out 6-4 6-7 (5) 3-6 by the unseeded Polish pair of Agnieszka and Urszula Radwanska.
Leander and Dlouhy next face the local pair of Julien Benneteau and Nicolas Mahut, while Bhupathi and Knowles will lock horns with Sweden’s Johan Brunstrom and Jean-Julien Rojer of Netherland Antilles.
